Albion is a town in Dane County, Wisconsin, United States, located about 27 miles southeast of Madison on Interstate 90. The population was 1,823 at the 2000 Census. The unincorporated communities of Albion, Highwood, Hillside, and Indian Heights are located in the town.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 35.8 square miles (92.7 km²), of which, 35.2 square miles (91.1 km²) of it is land and 0.6 square miles (1.6 km²) of it (1.73%) is water.

The Albion Collection Center, 69 Goede Road, will be open for the collection of brush (branches, limbs, etc.) and compostable yard waste (leaves, grass clippings, garden wastes and prunings, etc.) The Collection Center will be open on the following first Saturday’s of the month: May 2, 2015, June 6, 2015,  September 5, 2015 October 3, 2015 and November 7, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  If you have any questions, you can call the Town office at 608-884-8974.

Tax Collection Hours:  Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Additional Hours: Open Saturday, December 27th 2014 and Saturday, January 31st 2015 from 10:00 - 2:00 p.m. or by appointment.  I will also be open on December 24th and the 31st. Tax collection will begin on Monday, December 15, 2014 at the Town Office. This building is handicap accessible.  TAXES SHOULD BE PAID BY CHECK OR MONEY ORDER, PAYABLE TO THE TOWN OF ALBION.  January 31, 2015 is the deadline for paying 2014 taxes.  Tax payments may be mailed to:  Town of Albion, 620 Albion Road, Edgerton, WI  53534.  If you want a return receipt, please enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope.

LOTTERY CREDIT NOTICE: To Township Property Owners:  Please check your tax bill for your lottery credit. If you have lived in your house since January 1, 2014 you are entitled to Lottery Credit, if you do not have a lottery credit, please notify the clerk’s office.

ACCESS PERMITS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL DRIVEWAYS NEW AND EXISTING. Please call Julie at 608-884-8974 before any work is done.

Regular monthly meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at the Albion Town Hall at 7:00 p.m.  Public is encouraged to attend.  Planning Commission meetings are scheduled as needed.  Meetings are published in the Edgerton Reporter one week prior to meeting.

Ordinance and traffic complaints may be made to Dane County Sheriff’s Department at 608-255-2345.  PLEASE DO NOT contact the Edgerton Police Dept.  If it is an EMERGENCY, CALL 911.

REMINDER:  There is no parking on Town Roads from November 1, 2014 to April 15, 2015.  All vehicles will be towed at the owner’s expense per ordinance# 98-1(5).

RIGHT OF WAY: The Town of Albion does have a right of way on all town roads.  Nothing is allowed in the right of way except mailboxes and fire numbers. Most right of ways are 33 ft from the center of the road.  Do not plant trees, bushes, build fences or do any excavating in the right of way.  If you have any questions you can call Julie at 608-884-8974.

DOG LICENSE - All dogs in the township are required to be licensed. Dog license forms are enclosed.  If purchasing a dog license when paying your taxes, it is required a separate check is made out for the license.  The fee is $10.00 spayed/neutered and $15.00 unaltered.  Forms can also be found on the website. If mailing in a dog license and fee, please enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope. The Town of Albion has adopted Dane Counties Animal Control Ordinance.  Dogs must be licensed in the Town of Albion. Dog owners must keep their dogs in their own yard or leashed.  Fines for ordinance violations will be enforced if necessary and can be costly.

BUILDING PERMITS are required for any construction or repairs that exceeds $500.00.  Please call Steve Kittleson at 608-445-9715 or go to the website for the forms.

Minimum Property Maintenance Code Ordinance – This ordinance was established to ensure the Town is kept enjoyable for everyone.  It is designed to protect the health, safety and quality of life for the residents, visitors and businesses. The most common violations are grass not maintained, obnoxious growth, motor vehicles that are unlicensed, bushes/trees that need to be trimmed back from the roads, tires in the yard and unsightly items being stored in the yard.  Citations will be issued if necessary.

Park Pavilion and Town Hall Rental:  To rent either of these you can call Julie.  The cost for the Park is $50.00 for a resident of Albion and 75.00 for non-Albion resident.  The cost of the Town Hall is 75.00 for a resident of Albion and 100.00 for non-Albion resident.  Also we have a $100.00 deposit that is paid at time of rental and refunded if everything is cleaned up and in good shape.
